MEDIA RELEASE
13 April 2011
Member for Charlton, Greg Combet, is encouraging local people with a disability who want to develop their leadership skills to apply for the third intake of the Australian Government’s Leaders for Tomorrow program.
The 12 month program equips participants with the skills and confidence they need to become leaders in business, government and the community.
“This program is an excellent opportunity for people with a disability to overcome barriers to work, community and social participation,” Mr Combet said.
“It aims to support people with a disability to reach their full potential.”
Administered by TAFE NSW Hunter Institute, the program is tailored to each participant’s leadership aspirations and needs, ensuring they receive appropriate support such as training, coaching and workplace mentoring to help them achieve their goals.
Leaders for Tomorrow is part of the Australian Government’s $11 million accessibility package to remove barriers and expand opportunities for people with disability and carers under the National Disability Strategy.
Applications for the Leaders for Tomorrow program close Friday 27 April 2012.
