Combet Recognises Local Sporting Champions

Greg Combet was honored to present members of the Lake Macquarie BMX Club with the Australian Government Sport Achievement Award for sporting excellence in BMX racing.
Members of the team, Rachel Jones, Brock Griffiths, Thomas Stothers, Paull McLaughlin and Billy Jolliffe all received the Sport Achievement Award from Mr Combet at his Cardiff office.
“The Australian Government Sport Achievement Award recognises the achievement of talented Australian sports men and women. The Lake Macquarie BMX Club is full of talent, which is evident by their results at the recent world championships held in Adelaide,” Mr Combet said.
“The five recipients recorded outstanding results and were proud representatives of Australia .”
The team members were excited to receive the Award from Mr Combet. Head Coach, Paull McLaughlin extended his thanks to Mr Combet and relayed how important it is for young sports people to be recognised.
BMX racing is now a permanent event at the Olympics Games débuting at the 2008 Beijing Olympics. The Hunter Region has four tracks; Lake Macquarie (Argenton), Manning Valley (Taree), Maitland and Terrigal.
