Greg Combet opens new Veterans facility in Toronto

Greg Combet today opened the new drop in facility at the Toronto RSL Sub-Branch on the Boulevard.
“Toronto RSL Sub-Branch received $44,778 in funding from the Australian Government’s Veteran & Community Grants program.” Mr Combet said.
“This funding has provided enormous opportunity for the Sub -Branch to significantly upgrade their current facilities.”
Built a new drop in centre including; a new library, music and DVD library, CD and DVD players and a wide screen TV.
Installed a new kitchen.
Upgraded toilet facilities including disabled facilities.
Built new covered BBQ area.
Refurbished meeting rooms which accommodate such programs as Tai Chi and much more.
Repaint of the whole facility.
“Veteran & Community Grants provide funding support to local organisations dedicated to the health and well-being of Australia’s veterans.”
The program also funds projects that help veterans, war widows and widowers continue to live independently in their own homes, as well as initiatives to encourage social activities and improve access to community care services.
Veteran & Community Grants are available to ex-service and community organisations, veteran representative groups and private organisations that contribute to the health and welfare of the veteran community.
“Australia’s veteran community deserves to have the best support services available and I congratulate the Toronto RSL Sub-Branch for its initiative.”
